Club Information & History


West’s hockey club was founded in 1958. The club fields boys and girls teams from Rookies (U7) to U17 and has mens’ and womens’ teams in all senior divisions including Veteran Mens’and Womens'. The club trains at its club fields located at the Townsville Hockey Centre. Our Senior teams and U17 teams train on the water based turf.

Wests Club has a proud tradition of developing players who have represented their town, region, state and country. Current Olympic Gold medal winner, Robbie Hammond, commenced his hockey with Wests as a 9 year old, progressing through to the senior ranks and then on to represent Australia. Tenielle Attard, a former Wests Junior player is also a member of the all conquering Hockeyroos

    Seniors (social) $70
    Seniors (training) $135
    Club Fees include training !!!!! no more hand in the pocket
  • Townsville Hockey Fees .
    ASSOCIATION AND GAME FEES The association has decided this year that they will collect game fees as part of the overall fee collection process. It is therefore no longer a Club responsibility to set or collect these fees. As such, Association fees, including turf game fees will now need to be paid over 3 payments. (all fees can be paid in advance if desired.) Refer to the THA website(go via the link on this page) for more information on fees

    Insurance Policy for Players


    Hockey Queensland and hence Townsville Hockey and its affiliated Clubs (Wests) have an insurance policy to cover player injuries.
